Holly
Holly is associated with the spirit of vegetation and waning of the seasons. The Holly King rules from Midsummer through Yule when he is defeated by the Oak King at the winter solstice, only to rise again to supremacy in the following cycle. Each represents the continuous change of seasons. It keeps its evergreen leaves and brilliant red berries, even in the deepest cold of winter, as a reminder of the continuity of life.
