Blessed Thistle
Long used as one of the mother healing herbs, the thistle is also a well loved symbol of Scotland. Its deep roots, thorny surface and tenacious hold on life are an apt representation of Scottish nature. Each summer, a patch of Scots' Thistles known as "The Queen's Tears" blooms where Fotheringay Castle once stood. Fotheringay Castle was the last home of Mary Queen of Scots before her execution in 1587.
