At the end of the nineteenth century and during the first decade of the twentieth, an exciting new style of art appeared that became known as 'Art Nouveau.' Characterized by a lack of straight lines and an emphasis on fluid movement, this art style influenced painting, sculpture and architecture. In particular, animals became an important part of design motif. What better way to represent the beauty and grace of the greyhound than in the elegant style of the Nouveau period.
