Sterling Selkie pendant 1 3/4"...$60

In my family there is the tale of Annie MacGillivray and Cian the Selkie which goes back over 300 years. Jilted by a lover and disconsolate, Annie walked into the sea as the tide was going out with the intent of ending her life. As she was nearing death, something saved her and pushed her toward shore. Arriving on the beach, Annie’s eyes lifted to behold the most beautiful man she had ever seen. They became lovers andAnnie bore him a son. However, she soon learned the truth of the Selkie legends. He could not linger on shore with her for more than a year and a day. Not wanting to leave her, he gifted her with a strange orange candle, telling her to burn it in the window at midnight when she could no longer stand the pain of separation. That original candle was eventually replaced with another and another until Annie and Cian had 13 children. On the night Annie died, the Selkie candle was burning in the window and that same candle was preserved for over three centuries. Near midnight, when the winds are high, they whisper that you can see a candle faintly flickering in the window of Annie’s auld cottage and the seals still come to that spot and sing their songs.

Suspending New Orders Between February 16 & March 10, 2010

Due to logistical and time constraint problems in finishing and shipping orders in a timely manner, I am suspending any new orders between February 16 and March 10, 2010. I am hoping that this will give Marjory a chance to get caught up on all outstanding orders and to work out scheduling conflicts with her other fulltime job.

If we are able to get everything back on track and  production problems resolved, we will restore order buttons on March 10th with many of the items out of stock since before Christmas once again ready to be ordered. New castings were done in January but since they have not yet been inventoried, I haven't been able to put up order buttons for them.

Many people don't realize that each piece of Black Horse Design jewelry is completely handmade and finished at the time the order is received. None of our jewelry is mass produced or purchased from another source which means you are buying a piece of jewelry made with personal attention to quality and detail. It also means that we seldom have jewelry available to ship immediately like resellers do.

My apologies to everyone who has waited an extended period of time to receive your orders and my sincere thanks for your patience. I truly hope these problems can  be resolved so that Black Horse Design jewelry will be available again with a reasonable turnaround.

If you would like to know when an already placed order will be shipped, please phone Marjory at 484-480-5854.
